I know it's hard to believe but I wish at your age someone would've slapped me in the head and said just lift, eat, and sleep. It would've saved me many years of spinning my tires. Either way not trying to piss in your cherrios lol. Nice work man and keeping working hard. |

i still get that from the BBers at my gym, and I weigh 190. eat clean, lift heavy...eventually the fat will disappear, the muscle will take over(again, clean eating ftw!)....and you'll be a monster! |

Alot of guys and girls go for the quick and easy approach.
Think right , eat right, lift right. Welcome to Terry's Martial Arts Gilbert Arizona
I've been big 247 at 5'9 now at 165 and I've never felt better.
And I do not worry so much about heart attacks.
Oh yes I'm 52 and I think I know what I'm saying.

And at such young ages, me and you and the other teens have faster metabolisms so just do some sports with friends, eat alot, lift and watch yourself grow, not shrink. Trust me on this, I was worried about becoming fat and not being able to work off the fat after bulking, but I bulked and I stayed the same bodyfat, if not got leaner, and got bigger. Good luck. |

For example, I tend to be naturally carry a little more bodyfat than most people so every once in a while I have to cut down a little bit. Personally, if I were to start all over again I would probably have cut the bodyfat first and build up from a lean base unlike what I did (started w/ some extra bodyfat).
Anyways, great job striker and best of luck w/ putting on the muscle now |

What the other guys said about not worrying to much about fat and simply eating right and aiming for muscle gain is true IMO. The more muscle you have, the more lean you generally get - so if you'd have put all your effort into building muscle instead, your BF% would probably have gone down anyway, maybe not by the same amount but still a fair bit. But anyway, you've done really well with the path you've chosen... now get lifting and eating!!! |

Anyways, great job striker and best of luck w/ putting on the muscle now | at <18 with a BF% less than 20% I really don't think anyone needs to cut. switching over to a completely clean diet(right around BMR), adding 20 minutes of Low intensity cardio after training, and lifting hard will end up being much better.
There is no time to gain muscle like the mid-late teen years as your body's GH and other hormones are at their highest levels...
yes, if someone is obese at this age (sad society) then their caloric intake should be lower than their BMR, but often eating more of the RIGHT food would end up doing more for them than eating less of the crap they do eat. It is a fine line, and everyone is specific. there really are few absolutes in this world (if any), but I could almost guarentee you 80% of the chubby kids in america today just don't eat enough! it sounds funny to say, but its true. they barely eat anything all day...then fill up at night with crap, leading to fat gain while on a caloric deficit.
guess it all depends on the look you're ultimately going for though:cool: |
