Rep Power: 107397 | i just dont understand this 60% of the middle aged men at my gym ( ages 40-50 ) all just don't know how to workout
every time i go in there is some guy taking up one machine the entire workout. We don't have a squat rack at my gym so i have to use the smith machine and every leg day this guy would be in there doing incline presses drinking coffee and reading the news paper between sets ( no joke ) and after 30-35 sets of sitting there and drinking his coffee and reading the new paper he would go over and do flat bench presses for another 30 sets after he pretty much ruined my workout because he took up the machine i needed to use
well today there is this guy over on the incline barbell press bench and today happen to be chest day well i knew he wasnt about to move so i just worked around it and did incline dumbell presses. Well i counted how many sets he did and he did 41 sets of 8 reps just on the incline press then moved on to the next exercise
So my question is. Why do they all do this many sets? I have never heard of a program that required that many sets for 1 damn exercise. I just dont get it |

Rep Power: 439 | That's not an accusation you could lay at several online friends I have but due to the fact that not all the boxes seem to be appearing I can't post any of the pics, so I'll put their names in (and hope that some clever person can Google them and post their pics that way)
Luke Rude (resident in Minnesota, United States) aged 54 and entered his first two contests this year including the Eagle Star Natural in Minnesota
Scott "Old Navy" Hults (resident in Birmingham, Alabama) aged 63 and already a multi natural pro. You can read a detailed history of his training at Body Building Senior.com which also includes pics as well.
I would also like to mention "muscleguy" who is now a forum member (at age 71) but feel that I should leave the floor open to him to "blow his own trumpet" if he so wishes. |

Rep Power: 932 | I fall into that age category, so I am a little more aware of that age group in the gym. I too have seen a couple of guys that seem to spend 20 or 30 min on one piece of equipment. They tend to move slow and methodical through their lifts and take close to five min rest between sets. Still they are the exception not the norm. I am going to ask them their strategy next time I see one, I will let you know what they say. Me, I try to do as little as possible to look as good as possible. |

lol, I know scott. He works out at the same gym as me.
Admin...why the fuck did you get a membership at a gym with no squat rack? That is absurd...
Anyone doing 41 sets is a retard....whether it's 1 exercise or 10...volume is outta control. I don't even hit 30 on my highest volume weeks....
