question about my exercise

I am not sure if this is the right forum, but here goes. I have been working out at the gym in the mornings, not extremely hard, as I have just started in the past month, but I am consistent -alternating upper and lower with trunk work outs, mostly between 35-50 pound weights with 3-4 reps at 12-15, trying to protect and build as much muscle as I can while losing a large amount of weight. I walk at night, at least five times a week, I try to do 30+ minutes each time (I walk as fast as I can comfortably, but just measure the time).

My question(s) are this. Is it normal to be so tired almost immediately after doing any kind of exercise? Should my feet be swelling every few days?

I make myself drink water during and after workouts, and I make sure I get 64+ ounces of water a day, way more at times. I take supplements to help with the process too. I take CLA (4000 mg a day, DHEA, DHA, Borage Oil, chromium picolinate, and Guarana). I am trying to eat the 50 carb/25 protein/25 fat that seems to be the general consensus for optimum. I am eating around 1500 to 2000 calories a day.

Is there something that I need to change? This instant tiredness is driving me nuts, I work out first thing in the morning so that I can have more energy, sometimes I can hardly drive home...

any help would be appreciated.

Re: question about my exercise

I'm new here, but I think this forum is primarily for body building (hence the 'hardcore bodybuilding' folder directory), in any event I'm pretty sure you should do a calculation (based on your daily activity, age, body weight, etc.) for your daily caloric intake...then cut that by approx~500cal a day to cut weight (which would also cut any significant chances for muscle gain).

You can't build maximum muscle and drop BF at max rates at the same time; one sacrifices the other.

1500 calories a day seems really low, unless you are a small asian chick, then it's prolly alright.

Since I just joined I realized I can't post any links (until I make the 15 post limit), but if you google 'daily calorie requirements calculator iowa', the second link is for Iowa University, seems legit...

Re: question about my exercise

haha 64 ounces of water isn't enough for a 6 year old, much less a full grown person. At least double that on the days you don't workout, and add to that when you do.

Also, if you're trying to lose weight scrap that 50c/25p/25f plan you're using. Up the protein, drop the carbs. 45p/30c/25f, 50p/25c/25f, 50p/35f/15c...etc

Yup...change the diet, and DRINK some DAMN water. That 64oz is NOT good. I drink that much by noon.

clap Re: question about my exercise

thanks guys !! I will try what you have said. I have noticed I am drinking more and more water now without trying. I guess it is the constant sweating.

There is so much contraversy about the calories. I do think you are right. That might be the difference.

Thanks again!
