weight loss tips

Unfortunately you will not lose weight using a strictly low fat diet. Contrary to popular belief many people believe that eating purely low fat foods is the answer to losing weight. This could not be further from the truth. Low fat diets have been popular for very long time yet each year obesity rates rise. A low fat menu is not the answer to losing weight permanently.
Using a low calorie diet will help either. One of the worst things you can do in fact is utilize a low calorie diet. Low calorie diets may work for a few days but after the initial weight loss you'll hit a plateau. The reason for this is your body's natural fat burning engines slows down and this is when you hit the plateau. The amount of daily calories are not the deciding factor in your weight loss. It is the "Type" of calorie you consume. Calories come from three sources; fat, carbs and protein. It is this that is important.

Low Carb diets have been all the rage the last few years especially as an easy weight loss for teens program. The problem with these diets is they are very strict and very hard to follow for the average person. When on a low carb diet your body is robbed of energy and this makes it extremely difficult to remain on the program for an extended period of time. Just to give you an idea of how restrictive these diets are, the Atkins diet a very popular program allows just 20 "net carbs" per day for the first 2 weeks. An apple has more than 20 carbs!

Jenny Craig or Weight Watchers are programs many people turn to. Although These can and do work for many people they usually are very costly and weight loss is spread out over sometimes a very long period of time. Obviously this is advantageous for them because they make more money this way. With summer weight loss being on everyones mind there are rapid weight loss tips that will enable you to lose the weight much quicker.

For a diet to be effective it must be easy to follow, fit in with social behavior such as eating out and eating on the run and not provide ONLY short term results only to be gained back when OFF the diet.

Re: weight loss tips

New Pet Peeve...."Net Carbs" more B/S to make you buy a product. Cut you carbs back keep fat mod and keep protein as high as you would on a bulk diet. People love to ague this, but none of them have actually done a show diet of even gotten to a low BF.

Re: weight loss tips

Now... what about the navy diet? Ive heard many people say that the weight stayed off after they stopped the diet, and a large misconception seems to be that the weight you lose is water weight, when actually its the chemical reactions of the food you eat, that help you lose, and keep it off. Im thinking of trying it myself, and advice or info about it?

Re: weight loss tips

OK. I'm no expert but here is my experience. For newbies wanting to lose weight.

About four months ago I weghed 198lbs. I'm 5 11 tall and almost none of the weight I was carrying was muscle.

I decided to get in shape and set about on a exercise programme. Just using gut feel!

I bought some dumbells and worked out half ass for a month or so, probably dropped a pound maaybe 2. Not great. But I got the bug. I wanted to do more. I decided to get a cheap bench and put it in the garage with a few extra weight.

I then decided to dedicate time to working out. Hour a day roughly. I started looking on youtube for homw owrkouts etc, just picking it up as I went. As the weeks went on I learned more and broke my workout into different body parts and started using a protein supplement. I thoughI could lose fat and also pack on some muscle.

I'd lost a few extra pound prior to starting the shakes but then I seemed to be at stalemate. I wasn't losing any more weight. I did realise, however that my body shape was changing. So the weight was the same but my stomach was getting smaller(quite slowly though.

Anyway, I stopped the shakes for a while and decided to carry on with the weights without the shakes, and add a bit more cardio to my days. The biggest impact on my weight came when I bought a skipping rope.(Hey, it worked for Rocky). I stuck a quick two minute blast on the skipping rope in between sets. The weight was coming off now.

My diet didn't change too much. I still ate a balance of foods, including the occasional take away. I just didn't eat as much. That was pretty tough. Plate full of tasty chinese food in front of you and you just have to stop!!! I also added a tablespoon of flaxseed to my diet. One hour prior to workout. Get those omega oils in there to help my body break down the fat.

My days consist of various weight lifting routines.(5 of 7 days). Skipping for combined of ten mins per day. 2 sets of leg raises before bed. 2 sets of side leg raises(obliques) before I go bed.

So four months on I weigh 171lbs. I've got a good body shape now. Obviously no massive guns yet but I've got arms and a chest. And a flat stomach. Now I've lost most of the Fat I can kick on with the protein and work on increasing my weight - this time it's muscle though :-)

1. Eat a balanced diet. Just don't have big portions.
2. Flaxseed is good
3. Skipping between sets
4. Focus on slightly less cals rather than less fat
5. Good high fibre breakfast to kick off the day and the matabolism
6. ***Most important*** THIS WAS NOT EASY AND HAS PRETTY MUCH DOMINATED THE LAST FEW MONTHS OF MY LIFE. UNLESS YOU ACCEPT IT'S GONNA BE DIFFICULT AND COMMIT TO THE HARD WORK, YOU WILL NOT GET THE RESULTS YOU WANT

Re: weight loss tips

Weight loss, in the context of medicine, health or physical fitness, is a reduction of the total body mass, due to a mean loss of fluid, body fat or adipose tissue and/or lean mass, namely bone mineral deposits, muscle, tendon and other connective tissue. It can occur unintentionally due to an underlying disease or can arise from a conscious effort to improve an actual or perceived overweight or obese state.
