I have no clue what milo is, but waxy maize is a starchy carb used post workout. It is very effective at raising insulin levels (better than fructose, dextrose, or any other sugar). I like to use whole foods post workout (Oatmeal, some use white rice but I can't stand it) but they are all effective.
I have one "shake" per day. It's right after I train and it consists of water, whey (ergopharm gf-pro to be exact), and 1 cup of oats.
