Our own in-house developed system for Early Hard Disk Detection Errors and Warnings has signaled that there is an issue with the hard drive of the server, on which your hosting account resides. At this time, we can confirm that only parts of the hard drive are damaged.

Even though hardware issues like this are extremely rare and beyond anyone’s control, we are always prepared to meet any unexpected difficulties and react in the most adequate manner. That is why we managed to immediately take preventive measures to keep your website intact and save the information from the hard drive. Please note that the hard drive is still functioning and your website is up and running.

With this message we would like to inform you how we will deal with the situation. In order to be able to always react quickly in critical situations, we keep spare hardware that has been previously tested and is ready-to-use at any time. To make sure that your website remains intact and all information is preserved, we will take the following steps:

1. Replace the damaged hard drive - we will replace the damaged hard drive with a brand new and extensively tested one.

2. Transfer accounts - we will start transferring all data simultaneously from the old (damaged) hard drive and from our backup server to the new disk in order to speed up the transfer process and avoid any downtime.

3. Synchronize information - when the transfers from both places overlap, all data will be synchronized so that it is up to date. In case any data is lost from the old hard drive, it will be restored from the backup server during the synchronization process. We do not expect your website to suffer any damages.

Also, we would like you to keep a few things in mind during the transfer process:

1. Slow connection speed is possible - during the transfer your website will be up and running, but may be loading slowly due to the high amount of data being transferred to the new disk via the backup copy process.

2. Content upload should be postponed - we recommend delaying upload on your account during the transfer in order to prevent any data loss.

3. MySQL databases are not affected - your databases will not be damaged in any way as they are stored on a separate hard drive.

We would like to assure you that all measures have been taken and the following specialists are working on the issue:

* The head system administrator of SiteGround;

* An experienced technician from our datacenter, exclusively dealing with the affected server;

* SiteGround support team representatives, entirely dedicated to this problem.
