Clean vs. Dirty Foods

What is everyone's opinion on clean and dirty diets? Is a calorie a calorie, and do only macros matter? Or, do the source of those calories and macros matter?

Re: Clean vs. Dirty Foods

i wouldn't say macro's matter as much as nutrients do.

You can get a ton of vitamins from low/no calorie veggies and get minimal carbohydrates.

I think it's safe to say that all calories are not created equally...An example would be 100 calories of olive oil and 100 calories of Crisco...both are 100 calories of fat; one is clearly a better choice. This is an extreme example, but I think the philosophy can be applied to protein and carbs as well. It will be less 'black and white' than this though.
