What is a good amount of time to let pass between eating and working out. For a large solid-food meal, is 3 hours good?
For a while now I have been going 1 hour for a solid food meal(300 cal.), and 30min. for a liquid meal(300 cal.), and I want to know if I can change it so that the last thing I eat before my workout is my breakfast(500-600cal.), three hours before.
First meal afetr should fall w/in 30-60 mins after w/o. This should be a VERY easily digested meal. Most use protein shakes and ad carbs. Next meal should be w/in 2 hours of post meal. I usaully do 60g protein and 50 carbs right after(in the gym) then 1.5 hours later...chicken/fish with 60g carbs and some EFA.
Ought to have something in your stomach 1 hour before working out. But I am not talking about a big meal I am talking protein shake. If it is a larger meal, 3 hours then make sure you get a protein shake.
Yesterday, when I went three hours without eating, I had great workout energy. I think I might try to do the same thing today on leg day and see if I have enough energy to get me through. I'll probably bring it down to a 2 hour gap as well.
