Re: Energy Levels Post-Workout

Make sure you are getting a complex and a simple carb post along with a good protein source.

Re: Energy Levels Post-Workout

After my workouts I typically have 2 scoops of whey protein for 200 calories, and a bowl of oatmeal for 150 calories. It does the trick for me.

There are also a lot of different post workout drink mixes out there. A lot of them are mostly dextrose, which is basically sugar if I'm correct. I don't use anything like that because I put on fat too easily and I don't feel that many simple carbs is a good idea for me. Even if it is post workout. So, I don't use anything like that and I can't recommend it, but that is an option for you.

Your fatigue might also be a result of poor pre-workout nutrition. What have you been having both before and after when you feel fatigued??

This. And if you have a shake PWO try having a solid meal 30-90 minutes after your workout as well. Carbs, fats, and protein.

Re: Energy Levels Post-Workout

for breakfeast before my workout, i have a small bowl of steel cut oats with a bit of honey. and if i have time, also a banana or a hemp protein shake. postworkout, i usually have a 6inch sub from subway and a large smoothie from booster juice with a energy recover shot (glutamine). Is that fine? Last workout I was so tired and had a 2 hour nap afterwards and was out cold. Next workout it was better and I was awake and wasn't terribly tired.

Re: Energy Levels Post-Workout

Drop the Subway, to much sodium! Shoot for high protein and simple carbs.

Agreed on the Subway (I eat it, but in a pinch, and make sure I drink a shitload of water that day to boot!). Also, drop out the glutamine... it's bullshit too.

The carbs from the fruits in the smoothie are good enough for recovery, you just need a much better protein (whey isolate is very good Post w/o).

It has good study references, not just some guys opinion. Worth the read, if not to save you a few bucks a week on those "boosters".
