The basic idea is that you eat a ketogenic diet with large amounts of protein and saturated fats, no carbs obviously. Eating lots of meat and eggs and things of that sort to reach a high amount of calories (I think whatever your short term goal weight, ex: a 190 pound person eating a 200 pound person's amount of calories). I'll look thru the e-book tomorrow n post a sample diet or something. |

Yes, you need protein. Did you know that protein and cortisol fight for the same receptors? You also need high protein levels to stay in a postitive nitrogen balance. However, you need carbohydrates to raise insulin levels. When your natural insulin levels go up, it opens your cells so they can feed. Do you understand a little more now why bodybuilders nowdays also take injectible insulin. Pretty cool, huh? Now....... the other side to that coin is that insulin also opens up your adipose (fat) tissue cells so THEY can feed too. So you need to be careful.
Thats why an "anabolic" diet should also include (in my opinion) a good ammount of carbohydrates in it. Not just fats to reach a certain calorie count. |

"Basically what we’re doing here is limiting carbs during the week. Then, all of a sudden, the
weekend hits and you’re stuffing yourself with them. Insulin levels will rise dramatically. In
fact, it’s been shown that the high fat diet, in concert with the carbs, will make the insulin response
even greater than it normally would be." - Mauro Di Pasquale

Rep Power: 655 | Re: Anabolic Diet? Yes, I tried this diet...straight from the book. The first few days are HARD. You're pretty much craving a birthday cake, but if you have any will-power it's not a huge issue. The diet is fun because you're eating ridiculous stuff all of the time...tons of un-lean meats, cheeses, etc. I did it to slim out a bit. I def. did loose some weight at the beginning, but I noticed it kind of had a diminishing return. Overall though, it's a huge pain to have such a strict diet an have to pass up a damn sub if you and some friend are getting them.
CM, the book has a lot of interesting science to back up how the body makes adjustments to handle all of the fat coming in, and how to turn it into raw energy. Carbs def. play a huge role in a regular diet, but this one kind of requires a lack of carbs to work...having said that I prefer the diet that takes advantages of carbs Even if they can make you sleepyyyyyy |
