Calorie intake?

What would I achieve if I consume less calories than what my body needs but taking enough protein with moderate workout? Will I still gain muscle mass or definition? Thanks

Re: Calorie intake?

Can't gain mass on a negative calorie balance. Maintenance level calories would be a better plan.

Hmm only protein supplement? If you want to gain muscle, you have to eat over 2000 calories, eat 6 times a day. That cycle is called bulking. After bulking it's cutting, cutting is where you still eat 6 times a day but under 2000 cals, and when you workout, you do some cardio stuff. Anyway, you won't gain muscle in cutting cycle, you burn the fat to see your muscles. If you want to bulk clean I suggest eating 3000-4000 calories, 1.5x(yourbodyweight) for protein intake per day, 2x(yourbodyweight) for fat intake, fats are needed for hormones, and 3x(yourbodyweight) for carbohydrate intake. Me I take 3 supplements and 3 chickens a day, about a gallon of water, 2-6 servings of fruit, 12 spoons of peanut butter (that's a thousand cals buddy), 6-12 pieces of whole wheat bread, fruit juices....ect.. When you get the amount for each one, divide that by six, let's say your carb intake is 300g per day, each meal should have at least 50 grams of carbohydrates.

Re: Calorie intake?

That's a lot of food. I guess I have to rethink my objective. Bulk up or muscle conditioning.

Compared to the mega bodybuilders like Ronnie Coleman, who eats 10,000 cals, 3000-4000 cals is nothing. Just make sure you bulk clean, and have a balanced fruit, 30% of calories should come from veggies and fruits, after all, too much red meat will lead to stomach cancer.

Re: Calorie intake?

You don't have to eat six times a day.

Meal Frequency for Mass Gains | BodyRecomposition - The Home of Lyle McDonald

Just follow the calorie guidelines I mentioned and get at least 1 gram of protein per lb of body weight.
