What type of diet would i need? Post #1 | | Junior Member

Rep Power: 0 | What type of diet would i need? Hay, I have been trying to gain mass around my arms, and reducing fat in the abs whilst trying to main my muscle in other areas. I have been trying to do this on a zone diet(40%carb, 30% pro, 30% fat) for a few weeks but results haven't been as encouraging so far. Does anyone know whether zone diet will work for these aims or what other diet i should be looking at to achieve these goals? |

I don't know anything about the zone diet, but I know that "spot training" doesn't really work that way (reducing fat in one area and not others, etc.) The best thing you can probably do -which seems to work for everyone - is eat a protein and a carb six times per day, plus vegetables, and train hard at the gym with a good mix of cardio and strength training. The cardio and diet will melt away the fat, and help reveal the muscles you have been working on. That's the basics, I guess. It's what I'm doing, too. |

You wont see the results you want, you need to first bulk up to add muscle to your arms then go on a cut to lose the body fat and reveal the abs and muscle you have...
Read the stickies on diet and training... |

This can be as simple as replacing some or all of the food's sugar with a sugar substitute as is common with diet soft drinks such as Coca-Cola. In some snacks, the food may be baked instead of fried thus reducing the calories. In other cases, low fat ingredients may be used as replacements.
In whole grain foods, the higher fiber content effectively displaces some of the starch component of the flour. Since certain fibers have no calories, this results in a modest caloric reduction. Another technique relies on the intentional addition of other reduced-calorie ingredients, such as resistant starch or dietary fiber, to replace part of the flour and achieve a more significant caloric reduction. |
