Couple Quick Nutrition Questions

I've seen a couple guides on nutrition on this forum but I have a few unanswered questions:

--Is the calorie intake for a teenager the same as an adult?

--What are the differences between nutrition plans for bulk vs tone.

--How much weight gain should you even expect developing tone and not mass?

Thanks so much in advance, still looking for answers around the forum!

I'd say the caloric guidelines are about the same. Teens usually can eat a lot more and get away with it (I could back in my teen years).

Mass gain requires a positive calorie balance, fat loss/weight loss requires a negative calorie balance.

The last question is hard to answer--depends on your genetics, diet, etc. But new trainees make pretty fast gains, provided they are using a decent program and diet (enough protein, etc).

Agree with Kevsworld. I think teens need (or can get away with) more calories overall...metabolism is faster, you're still growing vertically, etc.

Define "weight gain while developing tone"?...if by tone you mean cutting, you will likely have a weight-loss rather than a weight gain.

Re: Couple Quick Nutrition Questions

I think "tone" is a bit of a misnomer. It's hard to bulk up with lean mass and takes a lot of calculated exercise and nutrition. I'd say that if you follow the advice you're finding here on the forums, you can use lighter weights and do more repetitions and not worry.
