Rep Power: 3510 | Strongman questions Sup guys. I've always wanted to incorporate some strongman training into my routine and I had a few questions about it. First off, would it be alright to mix it in w/ regular weightlifting programs for some extra strength? Also, I have a few things around here that I could use as things to lift being that I live in sedona right by mountains (I have a lot of big stones in my backyard), so would I need to buy any specific equipment or would anything heavy and kinda shaped differently (big rocks, stones) be good.
Thanks guys |

Rep Power: 3510 | Lol @ the going out w/ heavier girls . I'll try to get a few things around here, maybe a tire and some logs. I got a good sized stone in my backyard that I could use too. I'll give it a try then! Thanks |

Rep Power: 2776 | I would highly recommend you work on building a good base of strength before you go lifting logs and s***.
S*** like deadlifts and squats are CRUCIAL to a strongman...not to mention TREMENDOUS grip strength (ditch the straps NOW). So just start there, work on getting them numbers way up there.
I am fairly certain the majority of their training is done in the weightroom and not the country side. (not to say they don't do SOME very specific work) |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Strongman questions Ive recently started intoducing some strongman/power routines into my workouts n it seems to be working quite well, but be warned you need lots of rest n food to recover from all the extra heavy lifting.
heres an example of what Im currently doing :
Monday : Strength training Bench Press 8 sets 15,10,6,4,2,2,6,10
Farmers Walk D/B 3 sets 50 metre walk
Push Press 6 sets 10,6,4,3,2,8
Power Clean 4 sets 8,8,4,4
Deadlift 4 sets 10,8,6,2
Tuesday : Quads, Hams, Calves, Upper Abbs
Wednesday : Rest
Thursday : Push Workout (delts, tricep, chest)
Friday : Pull Workout (back, traps, bicep) Lower Abbs
Sat n Sun : Rest
I use higher reps for the push/pull workouts 8-15 and keep the rest periods short to keep the pump. |

That's how you build a great base. I wish I had a huge tire to flip sometimes |

But you'll have to find something that will be easy to grab onto.
Personally I would use movements like Dead lifts, Squats, all the basic compound movements, and just gradually add weight. |
