Sup guys. I've always wanted to incorporate some strongman training into my routine and I had a few questions about it. First off, would it be alright to mix it in w/ regular weightlifting programs for some extra strength? Also, I have a few things around here that I could use as things to lift being that I live in sedona right by mountains (I have a lot of big stones in my backyard), so would I need to buy any specific equipment or would anything heavy and kinda shaped differently (big rocks, stones) be good.

Thanks guys
yeah you can mix it up with a bodybuilding routine. that is called powerbuilding
Jonnie jackson incorporates that alot in his training
Lol @ the going out w/ heavier girls . I'll try to get a few things around here, maybe a tire and some logs. I got a good sized stone in my backyard that I could use too. I'll give it a try then! Thanks
I would highly recommend you work on building a good base of strength before you go lifting logs and s***.
S*** like deadlifts and squats are CRUCIAL to a strongman...not to mention TREMENDOUS grip strength (ditch the straps NOW). So just start there, work on getting them numbers way up there.
I am fairly certain the majority of their training is done in the weightroom and not the country side. (not to say they don't do SOME very specific work)
Ive recently started intoducing some strongman/power routines into my workouts n it seems to be working quite well, but be warned you need lots of rest n food to recover from all the extra heavy lifting.
heres an example of what Im currently doing :
Monday : Strength training Bench Press 8 sets 15,10,6,4,2,2,6,10
Farmers Walk D/B 3 sets 50 metre walk
Push Press 6 sets 10,6,4,3,2,8
Power Clean 4 sets 8,8,4,4
Deadlift 4 sets 10,8,6,2
sounds like really good advice above. my son plays college football and trains at a strength gym here in seattle. when he first started they had him work squat, deadlift, tire flip, farmers walk and the yoke. they eased him into it and his technique is now really good and he's gained alot of strength. way better training than typical gym personal training.

Sounds awesome. That's how you build a great base. I wish I had a huge tire to flip sometimes
