Don't forget that this is an equipped meet though. These aren't raw numbers. Trying to be honest here, lol.
On an aside. One of our teammates pulled something and dumped over 400lbs in the monolith saturday......with our brand new 450 dollar squat bar. |

This morning I squatted 505 suited with a belt.
Nothing to brag about but I'm still getting accustomed to lifting gear. I actually just put the suit on today for the first time. It needs to be altered to fit me badly, as the straps were loose and hanging off my shoulders.
Haven't really done any Full ROM benching yet. We've either benched with chains or done raw board presses. Bench shirts are a bitch to get used to. | great job PW! where are you training? still at gold's? |

I'm sure you just never really thought about it. Using lifting gear in training would be pointless if you couldn't use it in the meet....it would really **** you up actually. |

Rep Power: 2776 | Well I'm done with the powerlifting endeavor already. I don't like the facility I'm training at....or paying for two gym memberships...or the lack of programming displayed by my cohorts....and I hate lifting in gear. Back to gold's for the time being.
I realized a few things while training over the past couple months...here is what I deduced:
Training in lifting gear SUX ass. It really adds time to a workout, between getting in the lifting gear and getting it adjusted correctly before EACH and EVERY set. (bench shirts ESPECIALLY)
Because of the extra weight you can lift in gear and the constrictive nature of lifting gear, the pressure in your face is increased exponentially. I popped blood vessels in my eyes often, and started getting headaches and seeing spots...
I'm not sure I actually got much stronger while training with them. I got better at a select few exercises and got more accustomed to form and lifting gear.
I got burned out simply put, and quickly. I stopped feeling good when I left the gym and got no feeling of accomplishment from the workouts. I was just always ready to go. I would have to leave my house at 4:30 and fight traffic to get to the gym at 5 (hole in the wall BTW) wait until about 5:30 when everybody else got there and started warming up....then HOPEFULLY finish by 6:30 and get home around 7. One night we finished benching (AND ONLY BENCHING) at 6:45. That sux. I wasn't getting anything else done.
So back to the drawing board. Going back to a 4 day upper/lower split that I will design and periodize MYSELF. Probably incorporating some oly lifts and lotsa ipsi-lateral work. Looking for functional strength this time. I may get back into martial arts here in the very near future as well. |

Rep Power: 222437 | Sorry it didn't workout PW, at least you made a decision on what to do for yourself, rather than stick it out when it wasn't for you.
Just for the point of being pointless, what were the 1RMs you ended up on?? |

My deadlift has always been higher than my squat. Which lift is more likely to be the higher one? |
