The West Monroe boys powerlifting team recently added another state title to the trophy case.
The Rebels competed in Baton Rouge and brought home its fourth consecutive championship as a team, with four individuals earning state titles as well.
Craig Edwards finished first in the 123-pound weight class after scoring a total 910 points that included a 355-pound squat, 205-pound bench and 350-pound deadlift.
In the 132-pound class, Sidney Aulds picked up a first place finish with a 405-pound squat, 255-pound bench and 440-pound deadlift for a 1,100-pound total.
Don Brown finished first in the 242- pound class while also breaking a state record. Brown squatted 660 pounds to break the former record held to put his total points above the record mark as well at 1,635 pounds.
Brown’s 250-pound bench and 625-pound deadlift also helped out.
In the 275-pound class, Mac Downey brought home a first place finish with a 1450 total that included a 575-pound squat, 310-pound bench and 565-pound deadlift.
Ryan May also posted a new state record benching 380 pounds in the 198-pound weight class. |
