Rep Power: 1 | Protein Powders with.....? Hey, it just occured to me, after watching a few videos and reading a few articles, but which do you find better to mix protein powders with? Milk or Water?
I've been using GNC Whey Protein and have been mixing it with water, but it simply struck me that i should ask here after reading and watching those videos and articles.
Thanks,
Z

Really it depends on the protein for taste, some I've tried taste great with water but terrible with milk, some the other way around...
There's an extra 8 grams of protein in each cup of milk, and its been said the best post workout shake is a mix of casein and whey...2 cups of fat free milk, 1 cup of oats, >1 scoop of whey would be ~50g protein, 75g carbs
For me, I have oats, whey, and water after my workouts. |

The only time I don't use milk w protein shakes is when I'm doing low carb. In that case I mix it with water and flax seed oil. But it doesn't taste nearly as good as with milk. |

I don't drink milk because of the estrogen content . I guess none of this matters if you have a unstrict diet and arent taking any PH supps . Just FYI . |

Rep Power: 101357 | Re: Protein Powders with.....? Estrogen? You don't drink milk because of estrogen? Silly. We need to go back and tell all the bodybuilders from the golden age and tell them that they shouldn't be drinking that milk because it contains estrogen. Get me Arnold, Eddie Robinson, Dave Draper, or Franco Columbo on the phone before they take one more drink of that damnable drink!
Hold on, I need to put on my bra. |

Rep Power: 1 | Re: Protein Powders with.....? Fantastic question!
...and there is no right answer, just considerations, so here it goes. Just a couple of questions:
1) Are you trying to limit your caloric intake?
If yes, use water. As I am sure you are already aware water has 0 calories and fat free milk has about 80-90 calories per 8 ounces.
2) Is the protein powder you are using providing you with enough protein (or the desireable amount) per serving?
If no, then you want to use milk because for a mere 80 - 90 additional calories you will benefit by adding 8-9 grams of protein to the 16-27 grams per scoop of protein powder you use.
Incidentally, this is the route I take. (also other added benefits to milk such as calcium, etc.)
Hope this helps!
