Rep Power: 35 | Squat til you puke? So I've been changing my workout routine up a bit to give myself variety, and trying to avoid hitting plateaus. Well after 2 weeks of missing a leg day I was back on track and motivated to train really intense quads/hams this morning. Needless to say I felt extremely nauseated which eventually led to me puking. I was really only able to get about 3 exercises in when normally I got for about 4 sometimes 5 before I had to stop. I know on leg day puking is normal, but should I finish up my workout after I do so, or just call it quits and head home? Not the first time this has happened, but one of the worst/gratifying feelings in the gym. |

How else are you gonna supply yourself with the energy needed to carry on working out? I'll tell you - by breaking down muscle - YOUR muscle...
Personally, I wouldn't go all the way to the point of being sick, I've only been training legs for about a year (s in properly include it in my workout) and they've come on very well by going heavy, supersets, high reps - all different methods - but none making me sick
So quite possible to have a good productive workout without vomiting |

So quite possible to have a good productive workout without vomiting | Definately noted. I never plan on puking, or getting sick and most times I don't but it usually comes when I switch things, or go a while without hitting legs. I guess because my whole body get's involved, I slowly feel nauseated. I actually felt it after my last set of leg extensions, and wanted to end the workout with some reverse leg curls. At this point I couldn't even stand! Thanks for the tip, and glad I DIDN'T go back for round 2.
I started off with 5 mins on the bike to losen my joints and get warmed up. Then I did two light sets of leg extensions to really get warmed up, went on to perform 4 working sets of squats, and then 4 on the leg press, planned on 3 working leg extension sets, and 3 working reverse curl sets. Sound like too much? That's a typical leg day for me, and normally I have no problems. Thanks for the advice Wala! |

However, your warming up your quads with the two sets of leg extentions. Then your quads are geting done on leg press and then on leg extentions! your hams on the other hand are mostly getting done with leg curls and they play a part in the squats and leg press - but the ratio of quads to hams is alot more quads. Maybe ditch the leg press and do lunges (dumbell or barbell and walking or stationary - mix them round each workout) adn that will balance up your workout and will ensure your not overtraiing the quads and under training the hams |

I only started warming up with the Light sets of leg extensions after I heard Branch Warren say in an interview he does the same. Granted I'm not an IFBB Pro or training to be one, I've seen where some will do squats, leg press, AND hack squats in a single workout, as well as leg extensions, hams, etc...I think I'm going to start doing some lunges again, and see how that works. Thanks for the tip mate! |

Rep Power: 197 | Puking during a workout isn't really a goal of mine. I've reached the point of being out of breath and slightly woozy after a set of 20, but never reached the point of blowing chow. |

It was a good workout and i felt fine as soon as i stopped being sick!
But its just not a good idea to go so far that you're doing it every workout! |

Rep Power: 101102 | I think people make to much out of this. If you train to the point you feel sick, then simply take a long rest in between sets. If you are still feeling pukey, then try to work through it. If you puke then you do. Its really not a big deal. Just make sure you properly rehydrate! |
