Rep Power: 272 | alrite michael. long time no speak.
meself i think that skull crushers are very good for the triceps, but sometimes when doing them i get pains in my elbows. you can also go quite heavy on this excercise.
id say mix it up to be honest with yeah. close grip bench is a quality tricep builder. week in week out change the excercises to stress different heads of the tricep
i prefer strict controlled movements for the triceps. so i can feel the muscle being worked. i get a very good pump by using pushowns using a rope to either side. only a lil tip. |

Rep Power: 101102 | Just depends on the routine already outlined. If its is more of a pull based routine I would use skulls just to ioslate the triceps. If it is more of a push based routine then by all means use the CGBP. |

Rep Power: 272 | i normally go until its level to my forehead. i find thats the best stress for the tricep heads. instead of going to far down and then having to pull the weight back up with other muscles like the shoulders. |

I hopefully the answer becomes obvious when you realize you are comparing an isolation movement to a compound movement. Yes you use other muscles with a compound movement, but the emphasis is the same and you can handle a TON more weight. Remember, we are trying to force our bodies to ADAPT by creating a NEED. So stressing a group of muscles with hundreds of pounds will always be better than assuming an unnatural position in order to isolate a muscle with a hundred pounds or less.
If I had to choose between the compound and isolation movements, I would always choose the compound movement...but the fact of the matter is that you don't. So there is no reason to choose between the two. But comparing the two to each other is like comparing apples and oranges. |

I would choose the close grip bench press, bc of many reasons, plus I like it better then scullcrushers. |
