I like high intensity. But I do things a little differently from the way that guy says to do em.. Plus, he's talking about getting 'soreness'... everyine knows soreness has nothing to do with growth and muscle stimulation.
Its a good way to swap from a regular upper/lower or push/pull split, but you wouldn't do it all the time.
Either way, many guys have shown that type of training can work well.. |

Rep Power: 8486 | wala, some good points.
HIT is shit. for many many reasons.
firstly, there are many sub categories of HIT: MM HIT, Dorian HIT, etc etc
secondary, u cannot by any ****ing means judge a program based on which PRO used it and which didnt. PROs are gifted individuals who have been endowed with great genetics and a bucketful of supplements.
go over to bb.com and look up posts made by All Pro which discusses why HIT is shit.
i am referring to the OP's long term health and fitness when i urge him to stay away from that kind of bull shit. very few people are actually lucky enough to get good gains from HIT and ALL of them choose to experiement with HIT later on in the game. |

Rep Power: 8486 | ok before this discussion goes any further, i request all PRO HIT guys to read this thread: <<<Official HIT vs Volume thread>>> - Bodybuilding.com Forums so that it wil save me the time of having to copy paste posts which make sense why HIT is not something most people need to try out.
cheers
ps: there is one nice guy called Archangel (malley knows him) who does HIT but the guy started HIT after he was able to squat 405 ass to grass. think about it. for most beginners and intermediate trainees HIT is lame to the core. |

I trained HIT for a while which helped me to jump up in weight and strength. I put on about 8 lbs. because I trained really heavy for a short ammount of time instead of burning calories in a high volume routine. I am a hardgainer. It was good for me. But just like any other routine, it needs to be used in moderation, and not for a prolonged ammount of time.
Its good for you to train really heavy at times to shock your muscles and strengthen your tendons. I'm not talking about being careless with your choice of weight, but just lifting heavy weight that will limit you to a set or two of all out intensity. Its also good to train your mind to focus everything you have on 1 set.
I dont train strictly HIT anymore because you just cant keep that high intensity up for a long time. |

"Intensity" is not the amount of effort you put into an exercise. Intensity is a % of your 1RM.
HIT is not about intensity per se because you arent doing very low rep training. Most of your repetitions do not come below 6 or 8. That, in terms of the true definition of "intensity" makes it actually very LOW intensity training. powerbuilding programs like the texas method, 5x5, westside, etc all have you training at a MUCH higher intensity.
But you are right, HIT isnt shit completely. It does work for some people such as yourself. But the people who it works for is restricted to a percentage less than 1 of the total population.
I dont want to repost information already in the thread I posted but please have a look at it.
HIT is NOT the most optimal way for peopel to train (with a few - very very few, exceptions). |

i know what ye sayin totally Bro | ur right. but dorian hit is very different from hit per se.
if i had to rank HIT programs in terms of effectiveness, i would rank them as:
1.) Dorian Yates HIT
2.) MAX OT
3.) Regular HIT
4.) MM HIT
mike mentzer HIT is a joke.
im not an HIT basher. for those that train HIT and actually progress thats great. but its no surprise that there is not a single powerlifter who trains HIT style. not in the history of the sport has that ever happened. |
