Wrist and Shoulder Pain

Hey guys and gals

I wanted to ask a question and see if anyone has experienced this type of pain or has a possible solution.

A few months back I was experiencing some pain in my right wrist. It was pretty minor and probably nothing that I haven't experienced before, so I ignored it. I continued my training. I can't remember what particular exercise I did that agrivated it but I dont think it was the only on.
My wrist now is in pretty bad pain when I try to do straight bar bicep curls or really anything that requires me to supinate my wrist too much.
If anyone knows anatomy, it feels like one of my extensors, mainly the one that connects to my index finger. The pain radiates down about half way down my wrist. Its been about 3 or 4 months and the pain comes and goes. Anyone know what I can do to help it?

The second pain is in my shoulders. It feels like my trap is being pulled a little too hard. It actually is impeding on my bench press other similar motions.

Re: Wrist and Shoulder Pain

Can you pronate your wrists just a little and use the cambered bar to do curls? Can you roll a dumbell down your fingers and then grip it back up as a form of warming the area up to avoid pain? My best friend had a problem with his traps like you describe and he had to go to the chiropractor.

Re: Wrist and Shoulder Pain

Everyone has positions that their bodies do not agree with. the first one (with your index finger) just may be tendonitis in your extensor digitorium. see your doc about getting some anti-inflammatories (also Advil is one) and rest it for a few days then do simple, non-weight bearing exercises with your wrist and forearm muscles: some static stuff, basic movements, etc.

Re: Wrist and Shoulder Pain

Try using a wider grip (if you aren't already). Personally, I feel some wrist pain when using too close of a grip on bb curls.
