Looking For A New Split....Need Some Ideas Post #1 | | Engineering Muscle

Rep Power: 415 | Looking For A New Split....Need Some Ideas For the last few months my schedule has been:
Chest/Back
Cardio
Shoulders
Legs
Chest/Back
Cardio
Off
Cardio
I want to change things up a bit and I need some ideas of what to do. I've been working legs every 7/8 days in the past, and have been seeing good results. Having said that, this might be a stupid question, but would it be bad if I changed legs to every 4 days, like my chest/back workouts are??
I've been thinking of:
Chest/Back
Off/Cardio
Legs
Off/Cardio
Chest/Back
Off/Cardio
Legs
Off/Cardio
What do you guys think? Any suggestions? So I can get some inspiration, what does your split look like? |

there's my suggestion
If you want to do 2 bodyparts together, do chest/shoulders...
It just doesn't make sense to me to do two opposite muscle groups on the same day...unless you're giving one AM, the other PM and lots of food in between. |

Right now my goal is strength. I've been doing mostly low-rep work for all of my major lifts. |

I'm not training for a sport, and I'm not planning to compete as a power lifter, so by process of elimination.....functional strength?? haha |

I'm still confused though. If I'm improving those three, isn't that the same as increasing overall strength. Sorry for my lack of knowledge about this, by the way. |

Rep Power: 101102 | Re: Looking For A New Split....Need Some Ideas No, people who focus on the big 3 definitly lift to increase those 3 only. Other things do strengthen as well, but your emphasis is on those 3. Check out the powerlifting section. Theres a sticky at the top for westside training. |

So are you saying that I focus on only those three lifts? Because my main, long term, goal is to be bigger and stronger. Its just that right now I'm trying to get stronger. |
