Rep Power: 88 | ISSA Personal Training Certifications Hey, sorry if this is in the wrong section but I wasn't sure where to put it exactly. Anyways, I was just wondering if anyone knows if there is an age restriction for enrolling in a personal training certification course through the ISSA. I am looking on their website right now, but so far have not found an answer. Thanks. |

Rep Power: 703 | Yeah I have looked through their website before also, and I didn't see an Age Limit. I plan on taking the course sometime in the next several months so hopefully there isn't a restriction |

Rep Power: 88 | ya i tried e-mailing them so hopefully i get an answer...I'm 16 right now and if i can take the course at this age and have it finished in a few months then, well your the same age, you would understand how much that kind of money would help out providing that you have a sufficient number of satisfied clients |

I doubt you can get a training job before you are at least 18 though.
I am certified through the ISSA myself.
I would recommend the NSCA or NASM if you are serious about learning a lot about training though, I wish I had gone through one of these organizations.
Oh and the course is like 600 bucks too. |

I will probably do the minimum and pick ones that interest me though, as I am much more into getting ready for school and I want to learn more advanced training principles. I may get certified through the NSCA as well...I have a huge list of books I need to read, and I may sit for the NSCA's CSCS before I finish college as well. Quote: |

| As I said earlier the NSCA and NASM are two top notch certs, although the ISSA is pretty widely excepted.
ISSA's books have quite a bit of knowledge in them, but actually getting the cert is a joke. Not difficult at all. If I had it to do again I would've went through the NSCA. The information reads like a textbook and the testing is NOT open book and is RIGOROUS to say the least. When getting my cert through the ISSA I got impatient and really just read through it while I answered questions and picked the essay questions that required the least amount of research, lol.
I am a different breed though, the ISSA presented a lot of information that I already knew, just in a more complicated manner. |

Rep Power: 3482 | I am currently studying the ISSA PT certificate. You get out what you put in. I really can't see myself using alot of the course if I do go into personal training, just more of a starting point for me. |
