I have Win XP installed in my system. I had to reinstall XP as it was hanging. Now when I start the system, there are two instances of Win XP which appears on the screen, one is the old one and the other one which I recently reinstalled. How could I remove the old one from the opening screen?
it is not possible to install xp twice on the same partion so why would you partion your harddrive?(unless it is a business computer) my advice to you is save all of your files from your hardrive and delete all partions and format it and then re install xp. if your computer has been "hanging" there are few things you could do to improve performance.
upgrade your ram to stableise your operating system
upgrade your processor
clear your browser cache and delete temporary files
increase your paging cache
