i see. but it can go both ways. having strong shoulders is amazing for ur bench press. if u are able to military press more than bench press u are truly amazing. plus, this is a common fact that from a strict (and i mean strict) bodybuilding standpoint the bench press is very ineffective versus the military press. from a strongman perspective (and because strongman training is more functional than powerlifting) overhead pressing is a strong focus. from a powerlifting focus as per the most recent articles on elite fts and as per rippetoe's books having a big overhead press equals a big bench. so come what background u have, having a good military press promises a huge carry over.

You aren't. I didn't see any hostility. It's both of ours opinion, no fact that one is better than the other.

My military press isn't great. But it's somewhat up there, especially for my age. 105X3. What do you get Sentinel and Michael?

military pressing is hard, probably my weakest lift next to incline bench (huh, go figure both shoulder movements, lol).

kind of funny though, because dips are probably one of my best movements, and it is also a vertical push.

when are the workouts gonna start Mike?

i train a lot like a strongman in terms of giving greater importance to military press and deadlifts over bench press and squats.

i weigh currently 175 lbs on a good day (yuck!) and i can press 155 lbs for 1. here's a vid which i took just a week or so ago: YouTube - Military Press 155x1

that is 90% of my current BW. i also suffer from shoulder dislocations and i have genetically lose unstable shoulders. so i have to be very careful regarding my loading, etc. but, as the doctor said: to keep my shoulders healthy, i need to lift heavy

My cleans are horrible. My form sucks, so I just dont do em. I always hurt my shoulder. I am just not very flexibile so it doesnt help.

Okay, it's only 3 days left till I begin my new program, and this is how it will look:

Monday:
Cardio (jump rope)

Tuesday:
Off (PE in school)

Wednesday:
Squat day

Thursday:
Bench day

Friday:
Cardio (jump rope)

Saturday:
Deadlift day

Sunday:
Press day

I will do this program for 12 weeks, and my main goals are strength and hypetrophy.
